Treehugger's timeline of Earth's recovery from human inhabitation if all of civilization was wiped out at once:
Some people might think this is creepy or depressing, but I am not one of those people. I think it's great, and would love to be alive to see it (logic isn't my strong point).

It would be an amazing thing to see, the world after 500 years or so, with many buildings still standing but completely overgrown and retaken by nature. I've always loved post-apocalyptic movies like Waterworld and The Postman. (Hmm, maybe I just like movies with Kevin Costner.)

Interesting, though I'm not sure I believe some of the timeline...particularly metal buildings collapsing within 200 years.
